 INTRO TO PACKRAFTING

& MOVING WATER COURSE

Our Introduction to Packrafting course has been designed to provide those new to packrafting, and those new to paddling in general, with fundamental packrafting knowledge and skills through structured training and hands on experience.

The aim of our training is to provide participants with a level of competence and confidence, and prepare them to be able to packraft effectively and safely.

It is also a stepping stone into the Intro to Whitewater course.

During the full day we will spend time both on shore and on calm moving water learning, developing and practicing:

  • Packraft set up and use

  • Personal protective equipment and correct use

  • Safety skills, knowledge and basic rescue concepts

  • Safe entry and exit

  • Basic paddle strokes and essential paddling techniques

  • River basics

  • Broad overview of gear, and care

  • Trip planning and packing

  • Field repair basics

  • As well as plenty of time for tips, hints and Q+A along the way.

  • We will spend a good amount of time in the packrafts gaining confidence and working on paddling competence.

All courses are delivered by friendly, supportive, experienced and qualified registered outdoor education teachers, and paddling/rafting instructors. Each instructor has years of packrafting experience. We love working with new paddlers and packrafters to help them along.

This 1-day course is Day 1 of the 2-day Introduction to Whitewater Packrafting course and run back to back for those with an appropriate skill level and desire to do so.

So why not come along, learn some great skills and have fun packrafting at the same time.
